95 850 NA - T-Belt TIme?

Post by meine39 »

The timing belt on our wagon was last replaced on 02/21/2003, at 99,835 miles. Current mileage is just over 158K. I realize mileage-wise that the belts are supposed to be good for 70K, but my concern is age - at over 7 years old, I'm thinking it's time for a new one. Thought? Thanks.

Every 60K is the "smart" place to be. The belt or pulley failures rarely happen below 60K.
Do it now and be safe. Use Volvo parts purchased with the greatest discount you can get.

Don't have a solid answer for you because I'm new here too. BUT ... LOL ... as I'm sure you are already aware, if the timing belt quits playing, he not only takes his ball home but punches everybody else in the face as he leaves!
I owned a Household Goods Moving Company for 12 years & the one thing I learned that saved us the most money was: "If you are even THINKING "Maybe I should tie this down so it doesn't get broken" ... TIE it DOWN!!!" Cause it will move every time & get broken for sure!

Your thought as to age is a good one & frankly, you are not that far away to begin with.

"Tie it down!!!" ... Replace it! If you don't I think you are about to "step over the dollar to pick up the nickle". Just my two cents & my personal opinion but your question is Sooooo pertinent. ... I imagine since you even asked it you were already leaning towards just biting the bullet anywho! LOL
