Turn Signals Stop Working?

Post by 00_Coupe »

Hello,

I have a problem with my 2000 Volvo S80 T6. My turn signals die and in order to fix it I disconnect the battery and connect it again... What would cause this?

Also the last time the turn signals stopped working the power door locks only worked on the rear drivers side. I reset the battery and everything worked fine again.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

The next time it happens, try to see if the cruise control button will activate (display "cruise" on the dash) or if the radio controls on the wheel will work. It sounds like the steering wheel module could be going bad (although I don't recall any issues with the door locks on mine).

I was able to pull fuses and such for a while, then eventually that didn't solve the problem any longer...and I had to buy a used one from eBay. Once installed, it has to be programmed at dealer to activate.

Hope this helps...bv

I think you are right, there are a couple of other people with the same problem as me and it turned out to be the steering wheel module. I couldn't find replacement instructions on alldatadiy.com (have account), how hard is this to replace?

Also I found this diagnostics pdf, I can scroll through the list of mudules, but what is it telling me? Is there a way to read the codes using this?

Thanks,

It is not hard to replace, but you have to be aware of how to handle the airbag...Here is a post that directs to a write up that outlines how to remove the airbag/steering wheel..once you remove the wheel you have a plastic cover to remove and then you can get to the controls and then to the module. I have attached a photo of the module just to give you an idea of what you are looking for on ebay/salvage yard and in the car (I do not see any on ebay currently, so I would suggest calling a salvage yard and they can try to locate one for you).

Note you will need to have the "new" one programmed at the dealer before it activates.
