04 V70 Turbo - ABS module..?

Post by i-a-m »

my ABS light came on recently on my 04 Turbo Wagon with 130k miles. I never had any issues and the car still drives perfect...

My mechanic tells me that I need to replace my ABS module..?
How hard is it to replace myselft..? where to buy one (used..?) how much would it cost..?

please advise.

thanks

the ABS module in your model year is not one of the ones that frequently fails like '98-'02, so I would get it diagnosed correctly, before you go that route, for it's expensive new.

The module needs to be married to your car by VIDA, so if you go new you'll need the dealer to program it to your car.
Now, also ABS modules can be repaired for about $100 and no software download is needed since is the original module, do a search on ABS module repairs

Thanks for your advise,
whats the best way to diagnose the ABS module or is it by error Code only..?

My v70 drives perfect and feels like brakes work 100% but the light in the message center is so annoying... I wish I could just unplug it somewhere.

thanks

try the dealer for correct diagnosis. They may charge 1 hr labor, but is worth it.
