850 Sedan Roof trim
Re: 850 Sedan Roof trim
Adhesive Promoter is recommended for plastic. I used it on the roof strips too.

So I don't have an 850, but my V70 had the same issue. I ended up using a razor and cutting off all the old cracking vinyl. Then I used acetone to clean up the aluminum and finished with black Plasticote. It turned out pretty good, but we will need to wait a while to see if it lasts.
Here's a picture of the transition between the refinished Plasticoat and the original flaking parts. I did only a portion to see how it holds up before I do the whole thing.
I had also tried some undercoating and that was a disaster. It turned grayish and had a rough stipple finish.
Here's a more expansive view so you can see how much I experimented with. I may do the rest of one side and then wait a while for a final verdict.

I would go with Flex-Seal, the rubber paint the guy advertises on TV when he uses it to seal the hole in the bottom of his boat. You can get it in a can to brush on. I had a little corrosion damage behind the RF wheel well on my old 850, right next to the black plastic spray guard. My body guy taped it off, applied a bit of the Flex-seal to match the line of the spray guard, and it held up for a good 5 years of Maine winters.
The roof trim on that 850 was going bad like yours. I had bought some Flex-Seal to do like I'm suggesting you do, but the tree fell on it before I got around to it.
