volvo s70 tranny problem

Post by b5322 »

my 1998 volvo s70 100000 miles devolped a big problem after i started it and drove around for a little while the transmission started to slip (its automatic).By slip i mean the car is in drive and i press the gas and it doesnt go anywhere. so i turned off the car for about 10 minutes and then it drives again the car gets up to about 30 mph then it stops going and coasts until i turn it off again. i tihnk it might be some type of leak because its rainy outside perhaps water is getting in the transmission? the check engine light lit up and the arrow light started flashing. any ideas waht the problem might be?

funny my 850 did same thing. on a rainy day!!
also the light on eco/sport mode button is flashing as well.
i read it's a part called selenoid(whatever that is), and it's very difficult to get to. i'm hoping anyone would post anymore information on this.

Hhmm, the flashing lights you described indicate that a fault code has been stored. Take the car to Autozone and have them read the codes for you.
