'94 850 Cruise Control Problem

Post by JimWWhite »

I have a '94 850 (Non-turbo). My cruise control has been disengaging when I go down the road. It was working perfectly until about two months ago when for no apparent reason it disengages. I had the switch under the brake pedal replaced and that seemed to have fixed it... for a few days. What is happening is that I can engage it when I first get on the interstate and it will go about five miles before kicking out. I can't immediately get it to reengage but if I wait about five minutes and try again it generally reengages. Sometimes it drops out again in about five miles, sometimes not. Sometimes it will go fifty miles with no problem. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with the road surface causing the pedal to jump and making the switch fire. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with uphill or downhill. Just going along on a flat stretch and it disengages.

My mechanic checked the vacuum hose and connections as someone else suggested. And he was able to get a code from the B2 block. The only code on B2 is 1-2-2 which means that the car was not up to speed (35 mph) for the cruise control to engage.

Has anyone else had a problem like this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jim
