Heater blower not working in 2004 XC90

Post by caf_in_nc »

Hi,

My heater blower is not working. Does anyone have the procedures to test the blower motor or the blower resistor.

It started failing when the car was cold and then started working but now doesn't work at all.

I already checked the fuses. I know how to remove the the covers to expose the unit, but don't know how to test the blower or for that matter, how to remove the blower from the enclosure which it is attached to. Is the plug connected close the unit the power input?

Is it woth it to buy a "authentic" xc90 repair manual DVD on ebay?

Thanks

My blower is also on the frits!! Goes on by itself when I'm not in the car or it doesn't shut off when I turn off the car.
Volvo dealer in Vancouver just charged by $70 to tell me it may be my "Resistor Pack".

They want $200 for the part and 6hrs labor. Total of about $900

I googled the part online for $120 and will try to change it myself. I don't have a manual but will try anyway.
Did you have any luck?
