We just took our 2001 V70xc for service and they told us that the front bushings in both control arms are bad and the front control arms need to be replaced. I noticed that the car seemed to be pulling to the left on the interstate and so I ask them to see if they could see anything. They gave us an estimate of $675 - is this right? We bought this car new and treat this car great and drive it on good roads. Why would this happen on a car like this? If this is something that could be occuring couldn't you just replace the bushings?
Help Please!!!
Need to Replace Both Front Control Arms? Topic is solved

I now hear that the bushings can be replaced if the shop has the right equipment. I don't understand why this shop wouldn't tell me that.

You'll need to find a shop w/ a bushing press. The cost of all four bushings (assuming all 4 are worn) is about $80 if you buy them from here. Labor might be a couple hours. A good way to test control arms is to grab a hold of them and give them several strong tugs. There should be NO movement at all. If there is, bushings need to be replaced. How many miles on the car? My left one went at 110 k on my car. Control arm bushings go out on lots of cars. It's not really a super unusual thing.

Thanks for the information. We may check the alignment first and see what the alignment shop says.
Our car has 65,000 miles.
