Hello everyone!
I just moved to the D.C. area and after doing extensive repairs (complete teardown of the cyl. head after burned valve) to my 98 S70, the next project is repairing the A/C. I charged the a/c before I moved and after waiting in the DMV line for 2 hours...the a/c stopped blowing cold. All the freon I put in it before I moved leaked out and now its only blowing hot and the compressor is cycling every 5 seconds or so.
Today I bought some U/V Leak Detector stuff from a local auto parts store and put it in the system and luckily the leak was pretty easy to spot. Its the compressor to condensor hose that runs under the bottom radiator support. It seems that the hose was cut and someone attempted to repair it with a metal tube and some hose clamps soooo yeah...its leaking from one of the clamps as one would expect.
Anyway, my question is: Does anyone live in or around D.C. and know of a good pull-a-part, u-pull-it, self-service or whatever junkyard in the area that I could get this part from???
I came from Tenn. where there is a huge number of junkyards, the majority of which are self-service, but I cant seem to find ONE in the Washington, D.C. area that is self-service.
P.S. I checked FCP Groton, which I have bought all my parts from in the past, but $83 bucks for a hose that the junkyard would charge me $8 for leaves me wondering if I can find one on my own. Or if someone has a parts car in the area I would be willing to come and pull it and pay you for it. Or....if someone knows of a way, tool, etc. to PROPERLY repair an a/c line I would appreciate info for that option also!
Thanks,
Cory
