HELP Urgent - Remove Door Mirror Glass

Post by Metallo »

Hi,

My door mirror glasses are manually operated.
I have removed the mirror, but cannot find a way to remove the glass.

According to haynes, for 1992 onwards (mine is 1997) you just have to place your fingers behind the mirror glass edge nearest the door and pull the glass straight out.

Well, I tried and tried again, but no way.

The reason why I want to remove it is because the adjustment stalk does no longer work, therefore I wanted to find out what's wrong.

I'm stuck, can anybody help? :(

Thanks

Hi,

Well, since it was urgent, I kept on trying, result is that you can pull it out only if a screwdriver is used as a lever, on the left side (if you look in front of the glass and not on the right side as mentioned on the Haynes book), but, since this way of pulling out the glass is really awful, you end up in braking at least one of the pins.

I must say, the way they used to do on the pre 1992 cars is much safer.

So, watch out if you need to do this because it is not evident at all.

Cheers
