First-Time Volvo Owner - 95 850 GLT Wagon - Question

Post by Arlian »

I just bought a 95 850 GLT Wagon today. Everything seems to work except for 1 item. The driver seat back motor... When I activate the switch I hear the motor running, but the back doesn't move. The fore/aft switch works perfectly. Any suggestions? Thanks! :?:

Ah, you have the infamous back cable problem. I have it too, but simply don't have the time to repair it. I'll direct you to the instructions to repair it:

Goto www.volvospeed.com , click repairs/maintance (on the side bar), then click the BAY 13 link. The repair is under MISC as Seat Back Cable replacement. Enjoy.

Personally I don't have the time or the guts to do it myself, as I have the side air-bags on mine and don't want to risk compromising it or setting it off.

Kelvin, you're right to be wary of the SIPS bags. However, there should be a safety cover for the sensor that you can place over it while you're working on the seat. I've taken my drivers seat completely out of the car, and found the safety covers to be a nice touch by Volvo, and reassuring. You can access them by taking off the plastic panel where the seat controls are.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
