P0740-TCC malfunction - 98 V70 T5 w/auto

Post by WGRoper »

Got a CEL, flashing arrow and blinking tranny mode lights the other night after romping on the throttle to accelerate into traffic. The tranny seemed to shift just fine through all the gears, no noticeable performance drop. I had AutoZone pull the code (P0740) and clear the CEL and haven't had a problem since. I suspect the fluid needs to be changed, upon checking it the level was fine but the color was kinda brown. I'm planning on flushing it and refilling with Mobil syn ATF.

The OBDII code indicates a malfunction in the torque converter control circuit, per VADIS the ECU detected a diff in the engine rpm and the tranny rpm thinking the tc wasn't behaving.

Any thoughts?
