Lower the back seat rests and pull it thru the trunk. Oh I forgot, using the red levers behind the front seat backrest fold the backrests towards the dash, so you have free space to lower the fiberglass roof molding. Work carefully and slowly.

I just did the same repair on my 93 850. When you are sure that you have all of the different clips removed, recline both back seats forward, then it is best if you have 2 other people to help manuver the headliner out of the car. Take it slow, you can even get by in bending it a little. You don't even have to worry if you create small creases when you glue the new headliner on, it should cover them. Depending on the age of the car the foam backing is probably peeling away for the glue used at the factory. I pulled all the old material off then carefully rubbed all the old foam with a stiff brush to remove from the backer board. Do this in an area that is easy to clean-up as it makes a hege mess. I then took the easy way out and had it re-covered by a buddy that is in the automotive upholserty business, cost me 40.00 but he was happy to do it since I had all the hard/messy work done...When re-installing the headliner just work slow, mine turned out like new. If you end up gluing the headliner your-self check out the sunroof cover repair here on "Matthew's" I am sure it will help you out. Good Luck!

thanks for all the useful info on the roof lining. however i figured if i took it out at home i would only have to put it back in to take it to the auto trimmers, so thought lets see how he copes. well he had it out in 2min flat.take the head rests off, recine both front seats and move them back as far as possible. headliner then exits via passenger door,no bending ,pushing or shoving. quote for lining N.Z.$200 and a hand to put back in. anyone wondering how to release the roof grab handles, pop open :) the bolt covers, they open downwards, undo bolts and insert 16 mm square piece of wood into handle and push up .
