ABS/TRACS Lights 1998 X-Country
The ABS and Tracs lights keep coming on in my wifes' X-Country. Could it be a failure of the ABS control module or one of the wheel sensors? How would i tell which one has failed? Or could it be something else? It didn't throw any codes. If it is part failure, where is the best place to get the parts necessary? Thanks BillE

99.9% chance that it is the module itself. There are only two kinds of '96 and on ABS modules - those that have failed or those that are going to fail.
Member Matty Moo will repair the module for $50.00 and there are several other re-builders including Victor Rocha and Module Masters that will repair the module for under $150.00.
If you know how to solder you can fix it yourself for free.
I have a writeup in the repair database:

This is a tell tale sign of a bad ABS controller. If you want to know for sure, you could always just get the car scanned but it would probably cost just as much to just get the controller rebuilt.

From my experience, IF you've blown an axle boot, it could be a wheel sensor. Otherwise it's the module 99% of the time.
Realistically, like said above, it's not worth the money to get it scanned. IF it's the original module that came on the car, then there's your problem. They all will fail at one point.
