Yes

You test the flame trap with the glove test.

The performance of part 25 and 26 should be determined by inspection. If they are leaking due to flametrap pressure I suggest replacement of 25/26 at the time of replacement of the flametrap.

If flametrap is working properly and 25/26 are leaking I suggest replacement of 25/26.

Inspection of flametrap and 25/26 need to happen. They may both be fine leading you to search further.

Let us know what you found . Take pics as it will help others.

How do you put on the new gasket? I keep hearing about a special roller than makes it easier. Is this just like a standard paint foam roller? or is something more complicated?

Does any site have an easy to order pack of the o-rings/gasket material that I need to get to do this? I'm pretty my gasket is leaking a lot of oil.

You can stop by your dealer or use any of the above retailers. they will help you find the parts. The roller is a very small foam roller.

No "full repair kit" that I am aware of. Please let us know if you find one.

As the turbo return line often leaks I always suggest you rule it out before going forward with the sump repair.

You may be right about the turbo thing, I looked under the engine today and there's oil EVERYWHERE. The entire bottom of the oil pan is covered, but there's lots of oil leaking in front of the pan up higher. I'm going to start looking at that turbo thing first and figure it out and then worry about fixing the oil pan gasket.

Thanks for the redirect JDS60R ;)

Ok, here is the video for the flametrap. I sorta broke the glove a little bit when i was putting it on, so I but a rubber band on it. (It was the only glove I had...) so I wasn't sure if it was going up or down, or if I need to do it again with another glove...

You need to do it again with a new glove.

Or just take a cheap plastic bag and lightly set it over the hole. Should be easy to tell if it gets sucked in or blown out.

ok, here are two videos with a new glove, it might be too dark, but it looks like it got blown off and not sucked in both times to me...

ok, now for the leaking oil issue, i wiped down the area of leaking oil as best i could:

then after a drive to the store and back:

this was how much oil seemed to be around the turbo return line after dabbing it with this paper towl:

so does it seem like that is enough to cause all the leaking oil all over the back side of the pan, from just that oil return line? or could it also be coming from the oil pan seals as well?

Looks like its just the oil return line. You can do the same test for the valve cover but from your pics, I doubt it is leaking.

It does seem to be time to service your flame trap

what does the flame trap do? i thought if the glove goes out the flame trap was fine and if it goes in the flame trap needs to be replaced...

is there documentation on replacing the oil return line gaskets? how hard is it?
