I just got a used abs tracs unit off a 98 S70 from a junk yard, $65 not a bad deal. Since i was having the abs tracs issue like most of you i swapped the units, after I installed the junk yard version the abs light is still on but the tracs light is gone. everytime i press the tracs button the light should come on and then off when i press it again, but no. Everytime i press the tracs button it just lights up for as long as Im holding it and then goes away. I did take it for a nice 8 mile drive nothing changes and no pump noises either. Could that mean the unit is defective and/or that the S70 they pulled it off of did not have the traction control option?
Thanks.

If the JY unit has 9162675 or 9140774, then it's a TRACS unit. If it has 9140773, it's non-tracs.
Most of the JY units I've bought to rebuild were already shot. Double check your harness though to make sure it's 100% seated. Odd combinations of lights instead of the standard ABS/TRACS lights being on sometimes point to the harness.

I pulled spare ($40 at a pick and pull) off of a 99 S70. It has 9472650 on it. It also says "CONTROL-UNIT ABS/TRACS" just above the bar code. If you pull it yourself you can also see if there is a Tracs button on the dash.

9472650 is an all-wheel-drive module.
IF your car is FWD, did it work in there?

In fact, the controller did not work in my 98 S70 (FWD), but I just assumed that it needed repair just like thousands of others.
I was in the middle of trying to repair my own and bought it as a spare in case I botched up my repair (I can't seem to solder worth a hoot, especially when I need new bifocals and I am trying to hold the solder, the soldering iron, the PCB, a magnifying glass and a bright light all with only two hands

Yes, they are both the same module, just different part numbers.

The 9472650 is a 99 and up module. The 96-98's use a different module, that's why it wouldn't work.C@lvin wrote:Matty Moo wrote:9472650 is an all-wheel-drive module.
IF your car is FWD, did it work in there?I didn't think it was an AWD S70, now I am curious to go back and take another look at the donor car.

96-98 TRACS is 9162675 or 9140774.
96-98 non-tracs is 9140773
