I have been searching the forums to see if there is already an answer but do not see anything that fits. I have a 1995 850 Turbo.
My current AC problem is that when in the OFF position [light is supposed to be on] I see and hear the AC clicking on and off and then the light is just off and AC will be blowing.
Now in one thread they suggested that the freon level may be low. I have driven 2 hours straight with ice cold AC the whole way recently so that doesn't seem likely. Another thread suggested a small relay (fuse?)under the passenger dash might be the issue and I already replaced that one with a $8 used one off e-bay several weeks ago and this problem is recent....plan to go back to original this weekend.
Of course, this is all with the background that the AC can work perfectly for 2 hours one time and then work for 5 min and then shut down (possible shim issue, just haven't gotten there yet). So even with the AC 'stuck' on sometime it doesn't engage. Also if someone could show me the link to a thread with pictures of the wires I can hack to avoid the overheat signal, I'd do that too.
So I hope someone here has some ideas and suggestions to help this problem. BTW, no AC error codes whatsoever.
AC clicking on and off repeatedly in OFF position

If you have the mode selector set to the defrost position it is normal for the A/C to be engaged, even if the A/C is off. The clicking on and off part might indicate a low charge - how does the A/C behave when it is turned on?

Hi Lee,
Well as I said, the AC can run ice cold for several hours or can just click off without warning. Plenty of freon it seems, probably a shim issue there eventually.
But this is just the normal on/off switch clicking on and off repeatedly in the 'off' position. Most of the time after several flutters back and forth it will just stick 'on' meaning the light is off and the AC is blowing. No AC codes either that I can find.
