instrument panel problem

Post by darkcountry »

below is a pic of another s60 for reference. Where i am having issues is in the lower left hand corner of the instrument panel, (just below the temp guage) where is says, "DSTC ON".

on my car, nothing shows up in this window. is there anyway i can fix this? all of the other guages/lights work just fine. it hasnt worked since i got the car. im kinda hoping its a fuse or something easy...

what year is your car? does it have DSTC or just plain STC. Is there a button for DSTC in the center dash below the AC controls?

I believe this feature of the light coming on at start up with "DSTC on" came in the '05 and newer volvos.

Yeah, i was just using the pic for reference. its not necessarily the "dstc" im worried about. this window has other info that is supposed to show up in it... like SLOW DOWN, DRIVE SLOWLY, SERVICE REQUIRED, ETC... i have done a lot of research into this matter today and found some info that suggests it may be just the light bulb behind that area...gonna check into that. its a 2003 BASE btw

If you would bother to read your owners manual you would know NOTHING IS WRONG!
Tap the turn signal stalk, the message will go off.
Also if you twist the knurled knob, different nessages will show up
Again, PLEASE READ YOUR OWNERS MANUAL

it did occur to me to read my owners manual, which i did. however the owners manual doesnt show me how to fix a broken screen. i am aware of how the window is SUPPOSED to work

i replaced the old light bulbs and had light when i turned the stalk. still no text showed in window. the screen, upon closer inspection had a bubbled corner indicating that it is broken... im guessing my only option now is to replace the entire instrument cluster? (about $100 bucks on ebay) i could just replace that particular part, but would have to buy a instrument cluster for the parts anyway...
