Hello All - First Time Poster here,
I'm hoping that this will be an easy answer for the experts out there. I commit to donate a % of the savings if I can fix this on my own. PROMISE!
I noticed some fuzz in the cabin sensor (the slits between the zone temperature controls) and decided to pull the fuzz out (possible first wrong move). Once I pulled the fuzz out I noticed a very thin copper wire protruding from the slits (confirmation of possible first wrong move). I pushed the wire back through the slits and thought nothing more of it as I was getting out of the car.
The next time I got into the car, I noticed that the AC was not blowing cold air (which was set at 68 - external temperature 74). I then turned the temp dials to max cool and it started blowing cold air. My question is this....
Have I screwed up the sensor? If so, can I replace on my own? If so, where in the h$#! do I find the part? I've spent at least an hour typing in various searches and cannot find this part anywhere. I read somewhere that it would be a $1000 fix. I cannot afford this at the present time. Sans a fix, I guess I could always turn the knob to max cool(or max heat) to get by, but I would like to do a repair if necessary.
Thanks in advance for any and all help,
Possible ECC sensor issue that I caused
yes, that's the cabin temp sensor with its two thin copper wires joined at the small vent. they don't sell that part alone.
Remove the ECC module(after you disconnect the battery) and remove the cabin temp sensor from behind, 2 screws hold it.
Look for the thin copper wires and see if they are still attached to the sensor. try soldering the two together at the tip and see if that works.
