Quick look around a Volvo dealer today

Post by matthew1 »

They had a couple new 2011 S60s on display - very pretty. The used Volvos on display at MacDonald Volvo were mostly 2005+, not heavy on any particular model, a distribution of C30s, V70s (both), XC70s (only newer), XC90s and S60s. I saw a couple 40/50 models.

Surprisingly, many new body style V70 models (3.2 6-cyl) were out there under the sky, waiting for a new owner. They must be coming off 3 year leases now.

And you were able to resist taking one of the new S60's for a test drive?!

If our Volvo dealer wasn't 50 miles away...

My dad was there to drop his S80 off for VIDA diagnostics*, and I was picking him up/loaning him my 850. With a kid and a business, I have no time for test drives of cars I would feel very uncomfortable borrowing the money to buy.

Well, no time yesterday for that. :-) I'm sure I'll hop behind the wheel and use my I'm Here To Report Only mindset to resist the temptation to sit down at a sale rep's desk afterward.

I do owe it to the forum to compare not only the new S60 to our new (to us) 04 V70R, but to compare the V70 to my 850T5... hammer out a big old piece going over three generations of Volvo workhorses.

*His otherwise very capable, inexpensive local mechanic who does repairs out of his home garage has no VADIS/VIDA, oddly.
