99 S70 AWD New Engine

Post by pmarinello »

Well my S70 engine code B5254T overheated when the g/f was driving and now has no compression in #2 cylinder and is leaking coolant out of the back top op the head/bottom end (not too sure can't see). Junkers want to give me almost nothing for the car and all the engines I find online are 1700+ dollars. Question is which engines could drop right in, and once I do some more discovering which head will bolt right up to the B5254T if the bottom end is unharmed?

P.S. I'm more of a honda guy, so these volvo's are slightly over engineered to me.

Thank you.

Any GLT or AWD (2.4T) engine from a 1999-2002 model will drop right in there.

Likewise, only the B5254T head is going to work. Probably the cheapest option would be to get a rebuilt head and have it installed - the bottom end of the motors are pretty tough and probably just fine.

If you decide to go that route, make sure you change the oil before even attempting to run the engine again after it's back together.

A learning experience is one of those things that says, "You know that thing you just did? Don't do that."
