I am in the market for a new used car. I have never owned a Volvo, and honestly never had any interest in Volvos. I know some people that have 1980's wagons that are still running and praise them. As I have been searching craigslist all the Volvos I have seen have 200+K miles. So I've been keeping my eye out for a good deal hoping I can get something that will last that long. I found a 1995 850 Turbo Wagon, AT, with 168K for about $1200. It is a daily driver for the seller and the only thing they said doesn't work is the AC, which doesn't bother me. I only pay cash for cars and only have about $1500 to work with right now.
--Now for my question--
I am planning on test driving this car tomorrow. Is there anything I should know about this particular model and what should I keep an eye out for if anything? Are there any major issues this model has had I should be aware of? Any input would be appreciated.
I have owned VWs and loved them and most US made cars I have owned have disappointed. I think I'm ready to get back into something from across the pond.
Might be getting my first Volvo

Welcome to MVS. We appreciate you caring enough about learning about Volvos to come here and join. There is loads of superb advice and fellowship here. We hope your possible candidate passes a mechanical inspection and you give Volvo a try. I am actually a new member here and drive one myself. I love my car passionately and love it's comfort, versatility and safety.
