Nominee: Stupidest question of the week: battery drain

Post by Juice in LA »

So, I have a radio problem in my 2001 S40. I have learned - thanks to your site- that to reset the radio from "OFF" to "CODE", I need to leave the key in position 1 for 2-3 hours. Well, I did it for about 2 hours, and it did not change to "CODE".

I am willing to try it again for a longer period, but first I need to know- will leaving the key in the ignition, turned to position 1 for several hours drain the battery?

thanks much!

Won't be a problem, there's not many accessories running off of position 1. Just turn everything off and close your doors.

Juice in LA, welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

Some radios can take up to 12 hours to reset, but you should still not drain the battery.

By the way no question is stupid if you don't know the answer. That is why this forum exists.
