Reliable, Honest, & Competent VOLVO shop in South Florida

Post by Volvo_240_Atari_2600 »

I just want to start out by saying THANK YOU to Matthew with this awesome site.
Thank you to all the moderators on here and other members who share helpful repair and maintenance information for our valued Volvo cars.

Most of all...
We complain about mechanics, but I think we need to add a page to direct members to mechanics we see as reputable, honest and competent.

My recent experience is with a member "Volvofix 1" who has a very clean and organized shop in Jupiter Farms, Florida. Located just 90 miles north of Miami and about 30 minutes north from West Palm Beach.

I recently moved to Palm Beach County and met Dick, “Volvofix 1” in the spring when he replied to a few of my posts. Prior to moving, I payed his shop a visit for a quote on my AC.

Dick “father” and Richard, his “son” are both incredible mechanics and they recently helped me out after moving down here and of course… anything that could go wrong, did and he serviced my car.

Not only is the shop clean and extremely organized, I was most impressed by their honesty and integrity as I had my 89 245 towed for what I thought was a dead transmission.

I was quoted a pretty reasonable price for parts and labor for a quality used unit with a RMS replacement while the transmission would have been out of the car, so I was expecting the worst case scenario.

I was budgeting about $500 +/- for this and to my surprise, I received a call saying that they opened the pan, saw the problem of a clogged filter. With a thorough cleaning and new filter and fluid, the car was tested, and as he said “its fine”… I say the same thing now, two days later without the whining, slipping and slow shifting I became accustomed to in the past two months. This repair w/ two hours labor and parts (filter, atf fluid) cust me under $190.00 and I was most happy!

Its terrible that there are unethical and unorthodox mechanics out there but these guys are great and you will be happy you went to them.

They are not cheap, but in no way are they expensive.
I found parts and labor to be reasonable and of course, the honesty and knowledge of our cars, which cannot be found on any corner.
