Advice needed - i am a Volvo newbie

Post by MarkRoberts »

Hey All,

Just got my first Volvo S60 and am so far very impressed.

I could do with some advice though...

I want to fit these:

Powerbulbs.co.uk

Power Blue H1 (Xenon Effect) lights.

Questions:

1) Are there any issues with running this sort of lighting as Day Light Running Lights etc.... ????

Secondly, aside from the lighting question i have two queries with the S60 in general and wonder if any of you can shed an light on the matter:

2) At tick over (1000rpm) with the Air Con on, the revs frequently go from 500rpm to over 1000rpm and then back to 600rpm - basically fluctuating up and down. Is this normal, and or has anyone any experience of this??

3) When the engine is running and you stand outside the car there is an incredibly high pitched (not loud, but high pitched) sound from approximatley near the rear passenger (UK drivers side) door. I think it is the fuel pump - Is this normal, and or has anyone any experience of this??

Many thanks in advance for any help given on this.

Cheers

Mark

Fuel Pump: On many cars this is the first sign of a in-tank fuel pump failure. Recommend opening the cap and listening. If its louder, its the pump. You might have someone turn the key on for you so you can hear the pump come on initially. Some Volvos have a bost pump outside the tank also so check under the car also.

A/C: Need to check your freon pressure. You may be low (or high) on freon if it cycles on and off too much. On a 960, I had the same problem but the freon was OK. I changed the pressure sensors, both high and low after verifying my aux fan was working. (lack of the aux fan in hot weather will cause high pressure) That fixed it. The nice thing on the 960 was that the pressure sensors are shrader valves and no loss of pressure is experanced if you unscrew them.

I'm not an expert but some of this might help.

No problems with using the Powerblue bulbs with DRL.

Good choice to go for, much better thanstandard, will give you a brighter white and also a few more meters of forward visibility.
