My 850 is giving me a headache. The following is the problem.
When driving and pushing on the gas pedal hard enough for the turbo to come in and then after taking my foot of the pedal a blue cloud appears from the exhaust pipe of the car. This sugests that the car is burning oil but what is causing this ?

I have spoken to the authorized dealer in my country(there is only one:( ). The mechanic there told me that they would have to drop the oil pan etc..... and that I might expect a bill of over 1.600. USD. I must admit that my heart took an extra beat when hearing this figure.

There for I am looking for "alternative" ways to fix the problem. I have bought the manual for the car and a friend of mine who is a engineer is willing to give me a hand.

I would be very grateful if you could give me advice/help or point me to online recources that might come into good use.

With best regards from Iceland.

sounds like a turbo seal which would mean turbo overhaul, but it should become more consistant (not just after applying power) Has anyone looked at the flame trap to see if it's plugged? Dropping the pan isn't such a big deal in this car, but I don't understand what they hope to discover by doing that. Forgive me, but has anyone looked to see if you have something as simple as an oil leak, perhaps near the exhaust that happens under increased pressure?

The turbo was overhauled in november 2004. The car was serviced in July 2005. I complained about the smoke . According the the bill the "engine breathing" was cleaned, all "lines" on both side of the turbo and the "air cleaner" were removed and cleaned.
The car was good for about 45 days before the problem returned. Sorry if me translation of the bill is not clear enough. I have personlay looked under the car the see what might be wrong, expected the dealer to
do that.
If you have any further comments, please let me know.
