note for all replacing window pivots, #1 replace both of them not just the broken one #2 i made the mistake of removing the trim ring around the door lock and it was making the door lock bind up so when you put the door panel back on be sure that your lock mechanisim moves freely other wise when you go to unlock with the remote the door will not unlock.
Thank you vegas for your input it was most helpful and saved money!

You can either bend it back and install the new slider or replace the whole regulator. You'll need a special longnose riveter to replace the regulator.black01s80 wrote:Glad I found this post! I got the door apart and figured it to be an easy fix as I saw the exact same thing on the rear pin. However, I looked to the front arm and pin and saw this. How does this happen and how can I even replace this?

Reviving an old thread...
I have a 2000 S80 T6 and the window works pretty smoothly. Main issue is that when putting the front driver window up, it doesn't stop properly at the top. It keeps clunking. Anyone know what might fix that?

Don't know if anybody is still on this thread, but I have the same window problem on a '05 S80 T6, can't seem to get the door panel off. It seems like something near the top of the panel is still screwed in (everything else budges off except the top). Is there a different way to get a later model's panel off?

My window issue is with a 2002 S80 non-turbo.
Round 1: When my first slider broke, my son was driving the car. I coached him over the phone how to hold the window from both sides and gently slide it up and he inched the regulator up. Bad idea, it got going up on "auto up" and moving too quickly the window got out of alignment, bound, and broke. Replaced the glass and the sliders and all was good. Used some light silicone lube- worked like a charm.
Round 2: slider broke while I was driving. I had a spare set on hand (!) and replaced the bad one. This time, as I rolled up the window, I could see it was sort of wonky as it moved up in the channel. I believe that the channel is worn (130k miles) and is allowing the window glass excess play as it rolls up and down, and causes it to bind in the channel, placing undue pressure on the sliders.
So, anyone ever experienced this? Anyone changed the window channel?

Excellent illustrations and write up!
Could some one please answer:
(a) do these instructions apply to S40 year 2010 Rear passenger left door?
(b) as window drops down by 2 inches once the car is in motion, I suspect it is possibly one of the rivet broken, hence the regulator does not stay locked in position to keep the window glass shut.
Thanks a lot for the knowledgeable person who replies with answer.

So I just finished this job on the passenger side. Since last winter, that window would move up and down eratically and intermittantly. Seems the culprit was one of the blue sliders, that had a minor crack, possibly lack of grease and a window rubber in the guide that had 'inverted' for about an inch or so (likely because it had frozen to the glass) causing major drag on the window as the regulator would try moving it. Anyways, after following the excellent instructions above, an hour or two (or three) of patient tinkering, and employment of what always seems like a huge range of different tools, and replacement of the offending slider,we have lift-off. Window travels up and down smoothly time after time.
