tape removal off paint

Maroon 96 850 turbo wagon.

I recently took off all of my wind guards I had installed on all 4 doors. I got all of the chunks of tape off. There is still some residue left behind. It has hardened up now. I soaked it in WD-40 tonight to loosen it up and it did not even phase it. I believe the tape was a "3M" brand gray in color.

Any suggestions on getting this off? I am in the process of detailing the car to sell it and need to get it done. Would a wet sand hurt? Goop off?

Try methylated spirits on a cloth, using a clean area of the cloth as it takes the tape off. It won't harm the paint like paint thinners would.

There are commercial glue removers on the market, they might work.
