Hi
I am looking for help with my 1999 Volvo V40.
Never had any problems with the car in 6 years, and recently had timing belt replaced.
I drove the car 5 kms and then suddenly the engine revs went really high, like the choke was stuck on, and the temperature gauge went to the very top of the scale. I stopped the car, and the engine was not hot and had plenty of oil and coolant. I let the car cool down, and the same problem occurred. It would not let me start it until the temperature gauge had gone right down - about 20 minutes.
Someone has suggested that it might be a computer problem - but my problem is that the vehicle is a Japanese model sold in Ireland and I have imported it to France, so the French diagnostic machine doesn’t understand it.
Does anyone have any suggestions
Thanks
Susan
