breather tube under intake maifold replacement

Post by LBourque »

I have just replaced the O2 sensors on my 98 V70 XC. I removed the turbo to MAF sensor brreather tube to make access to the O2 connections easy to undo. All went well and while replacing the breather tube the plastic lines that are connected ,via a insert into the breather tube, snapped. They were very brittle. I am now chasing the plastic lines and got replacements in Scottsdale, AZ at Powell Volvo. Very helpful parts person named Milo. The service dept. said I will have to remove the intake manifold to reattach these plastic lines. It seems like there must be another way. Maybe remove the cooling fan or something.. Anyway I got intake gaskests anyway and was wondering if anyone else has done this job? Also getting ready to do the timing belt, tensioner, cam seals etc

I am answering my own question about r/r the intake manifold to replace the breather tube. Yes it must be removed. Cleaned the throttle body all new intake hoses, some had plain worn out and cracked. Running well and waiting for the next "check engine " light to appear. More fun working on a four bolt main 350 cu in.
