v40 heater blowers not working and the AC light just flashes

theheater blowers on my 99 V40 TD are not working. hot or cold. wheh the air con button is pushed the light just flashes green or red but make no difference. Also since this problem the cigar lighter dose not work. i have tried the basics ie fuses and bashing things but no joy.

Hmmm, if you can't find the fault bash it!!

Sometimes it does work.

I am assuming that the vehicle is fitted with the automatic temperature control as you have a flashing light on the AC button. This is telling you there is a fault in the system, which you already know. Unfortunately, to find what it is you need a fault code reader linked to the Data Link Connector. I don't know if the common or garden code readers can read AC fault codes or if it will need a Volvo specific code reader. My first stop would be at a good auto electrician who should have a code reader that may do the trick. If you can get a code post it here for more help.
