Post by surf2bear »

Hi - ( I am a turbo virgin )

Getting exhaust smoke but car seems to be running fine. Started to take apart things on the turbo and immediately found oil in the air intake tube, (photo 1) at the turbo

also at turbo that leads to something (which maybe someone can help me here as well) that is below the radiator (photo 3)

and oil here too :( .

Does anyone know what is causing this? and what can I do to fix.

Thanks very much :)

The seals on your turbo are leaking (oil cools the turbo, and the oil is leaking into the intake air). Go to http://gpopshop.com/ and contact them about getting your turbo rebuilt. You can have them do the rebuild, which they will warrenty. You can do it yourself, but if you are new to turbos, I wouldn't recommend it. I did it myself on my S80 T6 (since sold) for about $110 for the kit, plus $60 to balance the compressor wheel and turbine.
