2001 XC Cold Air

Was wondering if anyone had come across this: just a couple of weeks ago cold air started blowing through the gap in the steering column and the dash. Warm air per setting is coming from all the vents on Auto. Took off lower panel, but could not see or feel where the cold air might be coming from. Any suggestions? Nothing has been done to the the car during that time -- period. Thanks
