1998 V70 4cylinders w/o turbo, Underpowered?

Post by Chris_Arm »

Would a 4 cylinder wagon be underpowered for an AWD wagon? We drive pretty gently and not too much on the highway so could be fine for us.

Looking at one with 165K, great price but it's the first non turbo I've seen, can anyone comment?

Thanks Guys!

Your topic heading states '98 V70 and you add AWD in your post.
That's a 5 cyl, it's 2.4 IIRC and the AWD's are all turbo.
Perhaps a test drive would better answer your question.

If it's a 4 cylinder I should hope it's underpowered.
As you just were told, all these cars are 5 cylinders

OK thanks, Obviously there's something about the listing that's not quite right!

I would stay away from anyone selling a car who doesn't even know its major components.

x2. Gives me the impression the seller is flipping the car, and those guys will usually tell you everything you want to hear to get rid of it.

I looked at a s70 last year and asked the seller if the timing belt was up to date. "No timing belt, it has a timing chain. The Germans don't use belts". No thanks.

Maybe it's a V40/V50, a slightly smaller wagon, as compared to V70/850 wagon. They come with a light presure turbo 4 cylinder, but in front drive only. R/ Allen
