Thanks in anticipation

Thanks very much for your answer. It has put my mind at rest. I was SHOUTED at on the other forum because I said it works off disks only. Can I take it that it also works on the front as the manual states that, if it is used as a parking brake it only works on the rear. If used as an emergency brake whilst moving it operates on all four wheels until the car is almost stopped when it reverts to rear only.jimmy57 wrote:If you have the electric parking brake system it uses the brake pads against rotors and doe not have the drum parking brake system.
IF the EPB had an issue with shoe disintegration you should also have foot brake issues.
The EPB uses an electric motor to drive a fine thread screw that applies through caliper to backside of piston. The apply thread part floats so piston can move independent from EPB hardware. EPB is used on a number of cars now and has been problem free except when rusty calipers are thrown into the mix. Rusty calipers not having anything to do with the EPB hardware I might add, but due to salty roads in winter.
