2002 S40 Power Steering Fluid

Post by pwhisler »

Greetings, not sure where to post this, or if its ok if I post a new Topic.

At low speeds while turning, there is a noise that sounds like I need to add power steering fluid. After checking it out:

it looks low, and the fluid is all black and gunky on the stick. my owners manual says to use ATF oil, and no fluid change is required. can i just top if off with ATF oil from the local auto parts store, or do I need to flush it out or get some other special kind of fluid?

thanks for the help!

Nobody is going to stop you. The power steering uses ATF and no flushing.
