I've always wanted an older Volvo and liked the S40 when we first drove it in 2003. My old Honda died and I took a chance on a 2000 S40 a Volvo dealer assured me was checked out. A front bushing, battery, alignment, hose, and tires later ($1,500), the Check Engine Light says I need a CVT (CAM) soleniod and hub (I understand this is a common problem in this car). The parts are expensive and slow in coming to the dealer, the dealer is sick of me and reticent to want to fix the car, and I'm wondering if I should dump the car and buy another Honda. Will I be stuck in a loop of constant issues? Thoughts?
