The left "Brake" light could easily be your rear fog light. See if the dash fog light switch is on.

And here's a little goodie for your new car:
https://www.customers.volvocars.com/own ... 50_000.htm
There are a few other documents available here:
http://www.volvocars.com/us/top/communi ... volvo.aspx
Go to the bottom of the page and enter the year, model and "All Documents".

You can also find wiring diagrams here:

Good Luck and Welcome Aboard !

The PNP switch is an easy replace. The 850 T5 is a great car! Do not let your tech talk you into trading it in for a piece of junk. You should check all of the dash lights when you turn the key to position II, some might be burned out. Also check the rear fog light switch, that should show a bulb on the instrument panel when it is on. Please only use the rear fog light when it is really pea soup weather, that light is as bright as a stop light and quite annoying to people following you.

Have fun with the T5. MO secondary roads are made for the car.

If I had a larger garage, I could have more Volvos.

@ BEJinFbk and Klausc...Thank you so much for that great info. I am fortunate to have found this awesome forum. So far so good! Brake lights are good now. All seems well and I now have some tools to do things myself. :)
I hate it when people compare me to a person I don't like
