About to replace battery. Any info I need?

I have read that you wait 5 minutes after cutting off car to disconnect battery.

I have also read something about locking and unlocking car 3 times after replacig the battery.

Are there any other little quirks I might need to know?

How long is a piece of string? Sorry, but it's the same sort of question. The alternator is an electrical part that will stop working eventually. I have seen them last 10+ years and I have seen them fail after 2 years and a little bit, usually just outside the warranty period.

wouldn't it be best to power the system while you are Replacing the Battery ?, I I plan to connect a battery to the engine HOT and Neg. Then R+R the slowly holding almost dead one.

It states: "NOTE: After the battery has been disconnected or replaced, lock and unlock the vehicle with the central locking system's remote control to reactivate such features as the power windows, moonroof, courtesy lighting, etc."

I am jealous, my 2004 XC90 has a couple of hoops that I have to jump through when replacing the battery
