Mine just arrived (Thurs eve)...I'll play with it tomorrow and answer as many questions as I can. Since the unit came with several adapters, I will try the board in all the places to see if it fits.

I popped the rear one in (I have a wagon). Not any brighter than the old bulb, but it is that bluish white light. Easy install. I will try the adapters for the other spots tomorrow. Quite honestly, I think (and I was only out there for a minute or two (it's very cold out) I like the warm tone of the other bulb.

Appreciate the update. Yeah, I don't like the bluish tint. That's not natural light. I think I will wait until there's a more normal color available in this format for our cars.

Great job Red Arrow !!!! I was thinking to do something like that ( but I was only thinking), now that you publish the way to do it will be easier to follow your "successful experiment". Can you inform us all the info regarding the led bulbs ( model, price and from where you bought them )?
And again good job

has any body wired the wagons tailgate light to turn on when any door opens or when you unlock the doors. i have led light in my wagon but i think it would look way brighter and nicer if all my light would go on in my car. im also trying to figure out how to install a led light in the door handles so when i hit my unlock button on my keyless remote those light on my handles will go on, i think it would look cool and updated like how the new bmw have them. if you mite be able to help me email me at [email protected]

I installed my one SMD LED board in the trunk, and wow! I think the difference is amazing. I've now ordered 4 more to do all the other lights. Very pleased with this incredibly simple and easy mod. Most of the items of eBay come with adapters to avoid any soldering or electrical confusion. Use a little glue to glue the boards in a nice fashion onto the plastic lens, and you're set!

Jagauar does the same thing with orange LEDs and I've wanted to do it for a long time. My thought was to drill a hole or two in the plastic housing of the map lights and tap into the power lines. The plastic should be thick enough to hold the bulb tightly, so getting the hole to be the same diameter as the LED should be the hardest part of the job!

I've thought that using green LEDs would be best since it's the color that eyes see best at low levels (think: night vision goggles). Of course, since only one or two LED's would do the trick, I can swap 'em out and try the different colors to my hearts content.

The hatch light is wired seperately from the doors - I think it's the same wiring as a sedan's trunk. You'd have to run wires for the hatch, then hook it up to the door pins. The door lock-light would have to be the same deal, and that would be much more of an effort getting the wires & lights into the doors and then hooked up to the door pins.
