Well after alot of great help from everyone on here I got around to changing the timing belt, water pump, dip stick seal and flame trap. I am now happy to say that I no longer have any oil or coolant leaks and the engine idles alot smoother.

Now the current issue that the 01 V70 has and had before I did all the work to it is that when the car is in drive or reverse and gets to 2,300 2,500 rpms you will hear a vibrating type noise and feel it in the gas pedal but as soon as it goes above or below that rpm range it goes away. It will only do it when the car is in drive or reverse and have noticed that after the car has been driven for around 20-30 miles it doesn't really do it anymore until the car has totally cooled down. I did notice when I was reinstalling the upper stabilizer bar that the bushing in the upper torque mount was loose within the mount. It is the current square style mount and not the round one. I did replace the lower torque rod last year which was totally shot but recently noticed that I could twist it very slightly but not near as bad as the one I replaced last year. Also noticed today when my wife would put the car into drive or reverse you could see the engine move quite a bit around the upper torque mount area and make a loud thunk but have not noticed any issues with the car shifting oddly like it did before I replaced the lower torque rod.

I was wondering if the upper torque mount could be causing the issues that I am having.

Yes it would - mine did similar things at 70 mph; stick a jack under the oil pan and push it up slightly to see if the lower engine mount is bad as well.

Well I looked at the two hydraulic mounts which from what could see had no leaks and did not seem to be hanging low or show any type of wear. The mount on the passenger side looked almost brand new and looked nothing like the ones I have seen that failed. I did replaced the upper torque mount which was totally gone and could tell a difference in shifting from reverse and drive. I also noticed my acceleration was alot better and the noise seemed better than it was but still noticeable. I have pinned it down to it only happens at 30-45mph and 2,300-2,500 rpm's. Tomorrow I'm going to take the lower torque rod off to see how it is but from what I could tell it seems fine. I also checked all the heat shields and made sure all the bolts were tight and could not find any that were loose.

I'm kinda stumped now as to what is causing this. I might recheck the passenger side engine mount but was wondering if there is anything specific to look for on it to tell if it has truly failed because I could not see any cracks or deformities in it.

Well after rechecking the passanger side engine mount. I think it might be the cause of the issue. I did a torque shift test and could see that the mount would move a little bit but not alot like my failed upper torque mount.

I compared them to pictures that I found on this site http://rides.webshots.com/album/575531214sCDurR and from what I can see that the ends of the mount have deteriorated quite a bit.

Do you think that could be the cause of my issue?

Yes, it could. No harm in replacing an obviously bad part in hopes it helps/ solves your problem.

Well all motor and torque mounts have been replaced and the vibration and noise is still there but now it is at any speed as long as it's within the 2,300-2,500 rpm range. The only thing I think it could be is the catalytic converter because about 6-7 months ago the check engine light came on and was told that the cat was bad but they told me since at the time no other issue pointed to a bad cat that it could hvae been a fluke. Since then the light has not come back on but a month ago the noise and vibration started plus my wife told me tonight she can feel the vibration on the passanger side towards the center when the noise happens.

Anyone had any experience with a bad catalytic converter?

Well I finally solved what was causing the vibration and rattle. The mesh on the down pipe had broke apart on the inside. Once the down pipe was replaced the rattle and vibration went away. I guess it got tore apart when the engine and torque mounts went bad and caused all excessive engine movement.
