S80 side mirror

Post by S80T62005 »

Greeting.

I m having trouble with my 2005 S80 T6 electronic powered side mirror. when I press the button, one side will flip open but the other side will shut. if i press the button again it goes other way around... I recall that a couple of months back the side mirror on the passenger side (Right Hand drive in HK) was working intermittently and that might be reason for the problem of "shut/open sync".. the question is, is there a way to shut down the power of either side and just hope that by pressing the button again will let both side flip open as per normal before reconnect the power again? 8)

Thanks in advance for any inputs.

Interesting...
I have problems with the powered side mirrors too, but the simpthomes are a little bit different:
Sometimes (ones from 50) the right side mirror won't open BUT when I press again the button the left one closses and the right one does nothing. Pressing again to open them, they both opens and everything is OK. Why i'm saing that? Because my experience said that the *DM (LDM/RDM Left/Right Door Module) makes difference between opening and closing the mirror and a mishmash like yours is strange behavior.
I have 2 ideas for solving your problem:
1. Close by hand the opened one mirror. Stop the engine (key in position 0). Start it again and press the button to open them, hoping that both will open.
2. If the above doesen't work try this: Again close by hand the opened one mirror. Stop the engine. Remove completly the key. Whait 10 minutes. Disconnect the baterry "-" plug only. Wait again 10 minutes. Note: DON'T CLOSE THE TRUNK if you don't have the key No.1 that could open it mechanically otherwhise you won't have acces to the baterry to connect it again... Start the engine and try to open the side mirrors.
Tell me the results, plece.
GOOD LUCK

I have same problems with side mirrors.
In local Volvo dealer did not say nothing about this problem.

For fix this problem need to restart front doors electronics modules. Open driver door, remove fuse cover, unplug fuse for front door modules. Wait about 2 min. Reinstall fuse, and press mirror button. This is a temporary solution... Maybe for days, maybe for months...

So i still searching for solution for this problem. When i found solution i post it.

Hi,

I have the same problem that the original post in this thread talks about - one door mirror closes while the other one opens and vice versa.

As I understand the last post says removing the fuse at the driver side is a temporary solution. Is there a different and more permanent solution to this? Does disconnecting the battery and waiting 10+ minutes, as suggested by one of the posts, work?

An update to my earlier post.

I fixed the problem by resyncing the mirrors' open-close status by removing the fuse for one of the doors and then bringing the the other door mirror to the same position.

As a good measure I then took out the fuse for both the doors and left it that way for a good 10 mins (so that any settings that may be stored in any memory in the control unit will get erased). I then replaced both the fuses and it all works fine. To be clear I did not disconnect the battery.

Also, the fuse markings on the fuse box (in passenger compartment) lid only says 'Central locking, power window (front left)' and 'Central locking, power window (front right)'. The owner's manual has the same description. However, the fuses do seem to cut off power to the entire door which includes the side mirror control unit.

Hope this helps someone.
