Lights stopped turning on when locking with remote

When I lock my 2008 S60 with the remote, the turn signal lights usually all flash to indicate that the car is in fact being locked, however I have had the intermittent problem of them not always doing so. The red light that indicates that the alarm has been set still blinks, and all of the doors do in fact lock, only the turn signal lights don't blink.

I can't find any pattern to the behavior (night vs. day, headlight switch in on or off position, etc.) Do you all have any thoughts as to what might be causing the problem?

open the hood and drop it to close from about 2 feet.

In other words slam the hood then try it again

I had luck cycling the door lock with the key several (5) times after getting it back from the body shop.
