'85 240 Turn Signal

Post by coreyjro »

Sadly someone decided to break in and steal my CD player. In the process they tore apart my center console and as a result my turn signal and emergency signal do not work. I'm guessing if wires in the center console are reassembled correctly it may resolve the issue. For the most part it seems fairly obvious where most things should be reconnected, but there is a black/yellow wire that I can't figure out. If there was a diagram or something of the like I would be quite grateful.

I currently have this mess.

Also, if it is impossible to fix the turn signal this way, what things could you figure would cause them to stop working in this scenario?

Nothing in the lousy schematic I have -only covers to 83.

It seems to be large gauge and a positive line from the ignition switch. It plugs into something taking a large current near that location.

If I had to guess it would be rear window defogger, rear wiper (if you have one), blower motor power or radio power.
What switch or appliance would have been in that location

Does it come from the ignition switch or a fuse?
Can you check and make sure it yellow with black stripe and not a green or blue stripe

Yes, it's a wagon. I just looked and it is definitely yellow and black. The rear wiper on mine is right of the steering wheel on the stick that control the regular wipers.

I can't tell from your answer if the wire "is" for your rear wiper or if the switch has all its wires.

I forgot to mention it could be the 12v source for the cigarette lighter socket

Grab your switch panel and see if those are the right connections for the cig lighter socket.

That's what it is, cigarette lighter socket.

It appears this doesn't really solve my turn signal dilemma.
