Headlight Motor?

I hear little motors whirring as I reverse and pull out of a parking spot. Does the 2000 S40 have motors that adjust the headlight with steering? Will voices be next? Will they be Swedish?

you may be hearing the vacuum pump for brake assist. It will run whenever it needs to and sometimes can stick on and run all the time.
There are no steered headlamps on 2000 S40's.
