Looking for a little pre-purchase advice on V70 XC

Post by zgfiredude »

Howdy, and thanks in advance for any assistance.

Seriously considering a 2002 V70XC. 80k miles, very clean, blah, blah, blah. I've read here and been told that '03 and up is a better overall car with fewer issues, but am looking for a little pre test drive advice on what to watch for. The car I'm interested in has had the transmission gone through......new fluid, valve body and all solenoids replaced just recently. It is said to be in "as new" condition.

The seller is fairly firm with a $8800 price.

I'd love some input before I go see and drive........Thanks

Plus it's too much.
I can probably get you into an 04 for two grand more with the same miles
MUCH better XC

Too many issues with these 2001 and 2002 models. But I would pay close attention to the transmission regardless, any rattle in the suspension, any hesitation during acceleration and at speed with cruise control on, make sure EVERY button works, that there is no pull in either direction up to highway speed and no wobble in the front wheels, test all the lights and when satisfied with all demand a much lower price; $8,800 is just too much.

BTW, stay away from the purchase.

Just my 2¢

Thanks very much.....I've decided to avoid the purchase based on the opinions expressed here and everything else I've read here! Great site! :D

If you're within 1000 miles of the US East coast, I'll be hapy to find you a good 04.
(03's are very hard to find as it was a very short model year)
