S60 Poor AM Radio Reception

Post by jdsmith »

My S60 has poor AM radio reception. I bought a brass strip from the dealer that is supposed to be installed behind the C pillar. Does anyone know how to do this?

Sure hope someone from a Car Toys or other audio place answers this. I too am disappointed with radio reception in my 04 V70. Cannot listen to football games as I am returning to town. Reception is a little bit better leaving town. Thinking about adding an external antenna from Autozone etc. onto the front fender. Any thoughts?

Does your V70 have what looks like a defroster grid on the left rear quarter panel window?...That grid is the radio antenna and it can get damged, breaking the circuit, by a scratch...Look at it very closely to see if you can see any breaks in the grid caused by a scratch, kids, horseplay, something thrown in the back, etc...If there is a scratch in it, it can be restored with a special high metalic content paint available at Volvo and some after-market stores...Try Radio Shack...

Yes, is does have what I thought was a defroster grid in the window. Thanks. I'll check it closely.
