Alright, well I have a 2001 v70 2.4T and it has close to 150k miles on it. My first question is about the auxiliary fan, I remember when I first got the car a few years ago the fan would come on every time I turned the car off. Now that I have been thinking about it I don't think I've heard it come on for a good 5 months now, now I listen for it all the time and nothing. I'm pretty sure its the original fan and fuses, the person who had it before just did regular service to the car and nothing more. So I was wondering if its possible for the fan to go bad, and none of the fuses are bad... maybe missing? not sure, or if its because of the cool weather?
The other question is more of a concern, the car hesitates A LOT, especially if it's cold. Say I'm at a stop for a few seconds or more and I'll let off the brake and give it some gas, it will either go normal or start to go and then hesitate and go again. Mostly this happens if I just jump in and go, without warming it up. but it still will do that even if I've been driving for a while and the engine is all warmed up. I'm just wanting to know if this is normal for the turbo models or if its something wrong.
And another is about freeway driving, if I don't use cruise and I use the pedal to cruise at a constant speed the car will also start to jump as if its not getting enough fuel to the engine for a split second. maybe another characteristic of a turbo? I've never owned a car with a turbo before so I'm curious.

It may help to add when the last time you did a tune up? Did you change the air filter? Are there any vacuum lines not connected? Air cleaner?
There is turbo lag but it is not that pronounced unless your a drag racer. Are any engine lights on or other codes coming up?

Well the last tune up was in October, oil change, all the filters were changed, just the basics, but they did fix an exhaust leak. For what I can tell everything is connected, I check more than once a week since I've had problems with the intake tube coming off, but I think I fixed that. No lights or messages.
Okay so the lag is normal?

My old 2001 V70 2.4T had a similar hesitation problem and I replaced the MAP (not MAF) sensor which took care of the problem.
The sensor is in the very front...

It seemed that my fan stayed on during the summer time often when it was hot outside, but never during the winter time.

Might want to have the Throttle Control Module checked. Mine went bad on my 2001 V70 and replacing it fixed the same problems you're having with hesitating and jumping on the freeway. Be prepared for a hefty bill though as the part alone was $1250.....

The cooling fan will after-run when engine temp at shutdown is above a certain temp or if the engine load in the 6 minute prior to shutdown is high.
Both are signs underhood temp after shutdown would be high without fan running for 3 or 6 minutes.
