Greenies look away now. The amount of kludge, sludge and general junk that my motors have to eat from the PCV bothers me. I'm considering blocking the holes at the PTC ant whatnot and venting it. Actually the V70 is venting now anyway due to a broken pipe.
Thoughts?

One consideration for you: those crankcase fumes smell like sh*t when you're idling and the fan is pulling them into the car. I can't stand it.

Yeah I noticed that when the S80 had a cracked breather box. I guess if I could redirect it under the body of the car it mightn't be as bad. Worrying thing is I'm not getting the smell in the V70 even though Its not connected because I broke the pipe at the PTC valve over the weekend, probably clogged. I feel that this is a topic affecting the full range of cars.Should'nt this thread be in the S70/V70 section?
In the 1960s, when I started to drive, crankcase gases were vented to the atmosphere. It wasn't unusual to be following a car with bad rings blowing so much out of the vent that visibility was reduced. The smell, in some cases, was overpowering. Do we really want to go back this far?

I got a new elbow for my pcv vacuum line where it goes into the manifold....is it safe to cut off the bad elbow and super glue the new elbow to the existing vacuum line and put a small clamp where in connects at the manifold so it doesn't pop off...Is that the best way to fix it with superglue???

Nois it even legal to vent the gases into atmosphere?
Go for it. PVC pipe cement also works well for gluing things like this together. Otherwise the elbow often falls off, and the small line there is a pain to fish back up again.I got a new elbow for my pcv vacuum line where it goes into the manifold....is it safe to cut off the bad elbow and super glue the new elbow to the existing vacuum line and put a small clamp where in connects at the manifold so it doesn't pop off...Is that the best way to fix it with superglue???
