Hi, I just bought a used S80 T6 year 2008 from the US, the car has only a miles speedometer on it, but I reside in Canada, and was wondering if there is a software change that can be done to show KM on the speedometer. I have spoken to a few people, and they say that with the software change that a volvo dealership would have to do, I will be able to see the KM electronically under the total miles driven .
Can someone confirm if this is possible, without changing the whole cluster, as the cost to do the cluster change is close to $2500 , and I am told the software change should cost me around $100-200. I have called a few Volvo dealers, but they are not to responsive to the software change.
Thanking all for your help....

I don't think you need to change the cluster. As far as I know, I thought there was a button that will change it to KM from miles. I would look in the manual for this. If there isn't, which I would be very surprised, the dealer can change it in the software for you.

Even if you can change it you may have trouble getting a clearance letter from Volvo, the official position is aparently that all work to bring the car to Canadian standards must be done by a Volvo Canada dealer, I was quoted about 4000 for a V70 that they had to do almost nothing to

There is a software download for KM-miles change for odometer. The cluster will have to be changed to get KM marking on speedo face.
The software is purposefully priced high to discourage cross-border car sales when new. You might call a US dealer and inquire about the charge.
The $4000 was probably for cluster and software to make it a fully KM car.
